SST-3M InnoScience Challenge 2016: Finalist - Team Electric Cleaners (Consolation Prize)

Brief Project Description: Large quantities of water are utilized in the home through the use of various home appliances and activities, including washing machines and showering. The flow of water from the appliances and activities could be used to turn a small turbine to generate electricity. This product aims to harness this renewable source of energy while filtering water.

About this blog

This blog captures the ideas and works done by Secondary 1/Grade 7 (2016 batch) students from the School of Science and Technology, Singapore (SST), for their Art, Design, Media and Technology (ADMT) performance task. The project is a collaboration between the school, department and 3M Singapore, and aims to inspire and nurture the innovative spirit amongst its participants, through the application of science, and how it can be leveraged to resolve authentic challenges.

The theme for 2016 is Urban Solutions, with particular attention being given to the idea of Livable Cities. The tagline of the challenge is 'Smart Cities : Smart Solutions'. Students are encouraged to look at authentic challenges, and then offer proposals and solutions. This would culminate in an SST-3M InnoScience Challenge Day 2016, in which the top few finalists would present their ideas through a short story-telling or/and elevator pitch session, to a group of invited judges, from both the industry, and academia.
